Consultation and Technical Assistance
When developing a program, there are few things more complex than trying to infuse or refine elements that advance principles and values of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB). It’s difficult to know where exactly to start, and how exactly to start. You’re attempting to build a meaningful, substantive, and effective initiative that’s intellectually sound, socially conscious, and cost-effective. And you’re also looking ahead at how to refresh and amplify this program over time. It’s kind of like being dropped in an ocean with a boat, a paddle, and a vague sense of where to go. A variety of things stand in the way of successful program cultivation and implementation, namely limited resources and technical know-how. This is where consultation and technical assistance can be of especially high utility. Having a dynamic, culturally-informed independent team help guide your program is critical to the process of curating a DEIB program that is salient, scalable, and sustainable. CHUM provides this very kind of technical assistance. We do needs (community) needs assessments, grant writing, climate surveys and focus groups, program design, quality assurance/control – and everything in-between – to help guide and sustain your work. CHUM’s team of consultants are rooted in fields ranging from cultural/ethnic studies and implementation science to behavioral psychology and program evaluation. We provide the technical assistance required to give your initiative the scientific rigor that it needs to be empirically grounded, culturally salient, and impactful. Crucially, we provide deep, unrivaled expertise in a variety of content areas, including DEIB (broadly), cultural humility, trauma-informed care, restorative justice, anti-racism, Community-Based Participatory Research, and citizen science – areas associated with the trainings that we offer. Furthermore, our technical assistance experts criss-cross the disciplines of public health, social work, education, housing, agriculture, technology, and finance.
Creating a globe-spanning footprint, we’ve established consultative partnerships with a number of nonprofits, educational institutions, and government agencies (e.g., departments of health and human services, labor, etc.) as well as healthcare systems and biotechnology companies, among others. Our technical assistance, no matter the organization we’re serving, is always creatively contoured to the very specific needs and expectations of the organization and to the clientele that they serve and are attempting to more fruitfully engage. Our consultative technical assistance offerings are evidence-based yet adaptive, meaning we rely on science but don’t allow it to restrict the development of novel methods that correspond to the shifting or perhaps unknown ambitions of your program. Through structured advisement, coaching, and evaluation, we endeavor to provide the core operational and tactical foundation that you need to forge credible, high-fidelity services and programs for your audience. No matter what stage you’re at in your program, we’re ready to jump in and add structure and nuance to your efforts.
